Daily Time With God – why is it so important?

Daily Time With God – why is it so important?

Every morning God awakens you, puts breath in your lungs to live another day.  It’s an opportunity to open your understanding to His will for your life.

Isaiah 50:4

The Sovereign Lord has given me his words of wisdom,
so that I know how to comfort the weary.
Morning by morning he wakens me
and opens my understanding to his will.

He is always mindful of you.  You are His beloved.  Think about that.  He never sleeps so He’s able to watch over you and be with you at all times, even while you’re sleeping.  When you wake up in the morning, He is there, still with you.

Psalm 139:17-18

How precious are your thoughts about me,[a] O God.
    They cannot be numbered!
18 I can’t even count them;
they outnumber the grains of sand!
And when I wake up,
    you are still with me!

Reading Scripture allows you to become aware of His loving presence and His thoughts towards you.  He can help you in many areas of your life.  He can untangle your mind, enabling you to see Him more clearly.  How is this done?  Spending time with Him.

He invites you to spend time enjoying His presence.  He nourishes your soul with His Word.

James 4:8

Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.

When you respond to His love-call drawing nearer to Him, He is delighted.  And you…you find peace, wisdom, strength…the attributes of God that He extends to you is endless.

This time spent with Him blesses and strengthens you immensely.  He opens your understanding to His Word – enabling you to comprehend Scripture and apply it to your life.

As you make plans for your day, include Him.  Include time sitting with Him, walking with Him, eating with Him.  He will help you discern His will.  This collaboration with Him empowers you to handle whatever comes your way as you go through the day.  During this daily time, He is training you to trust Him at all times – in all circumstances.  He is there for you, waiting for your response.

Psalm 62:8

O my people, trust in him at all times.
Pour out your heart to him,
    for God is our refuge.

Ready to try it?  Give it a shot, I believe in you and so does God.  He waits for you to come to Him.

Prayers You Can Pray:

I come to you today God, ready.  Ready for new experiences with you, getting to know you one day at a time.  I believe you will show me how you love me and how you have loved me throughout my life.  I trust that as I meet with you daily, I will get to know you more and understand your will.  Increase my faith in you as I acknowledge that you are God and commit to spending time with you each day.  Amen.
